Miami’s Mayor Pushes for Casino Tax and Licensing

With the land purchase made by Genting, the Mayor of Miami is hopeful that Ls Vegas Style casinos may be coming to Miami’s downtown area. If so, tax revenue and licensing from the casinos could be earned from them.

It was requested that the approval to authorize licensing and taxing on proposed destination resorts be given by Miami’s commissioners on Tuesday. The Mayor would like to have all the details in place, in case the casinos are approved.

However, the Mayor’s request was deferred until next month by the commissioners. This was to allow for more time for planning by state lawmakers.
