Fantasy Springs Resort Casino plans new hotel

The Indio Planning Commission has given approval for a new hotel to be built along Interstate 10. The site and the plans were approved on Wednesday for the $10 million project. It will be built on a 2.9 acre site.

The hotel, a Holiday Inn Express, will have 125 guest rooms and be located along Indian Springs Road. Design elements will be customized and fit the surrounding location. The exterior will have stone and stucco and a porte cochere at the front entrance. Designs call for a contempory theme. Guest will enjoy a reception area, office space, a lounge, a fitness center, and an outdoor swimming pool.

The project was approved with 68 conditions. Restrictions include height restrictions with building and sign heights. Standards for trash enclosures and parking. As well as lighting at night and landscaping requirements.

The new hotel will be built as an alternative option for guests to the close by Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. The owner is hopeful for construction to last 10 to 12 months. Plans are to open in October of 2011.
