Four Indian Casino Propositions on Feb 5th Ballot

November 20, 2007

Earlier this year Gov. Schwarzenegger and the State Legislature approved plans by four Southern California tribes to install an additional 17,000 slot machines. This will more than double the existing number of slots in their casinos. Now approval will be up to California voters.

There will be four separate measures on the February 5th California presidential primary ballot to approve or overturn these agreements.

Proposition 94 - Pechanga Band of Luiseņo Indians (Temecula)
Proposition 95 - Morongo Band of Mission Indians (Cabazon)
Proposition 96 - Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation (San Diego)
Proposition 97 - Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians (Palm Springs)

Opposition is supported and sponsored by the Hollywood Park and Bay Meadows horse-racing tracks, the United Auburn Indian Community near Sacramento, the Pala Band of Mission Indians in San Diego County, and the UNITE HERE hospitality workers union.
