"Gila River Indian Community has had a vision to expand on it's gaming. With the new compacts that are in place now, we've had the opportunity to expand from our current smaller Lone Butte facility and invest in this state-of-the art facility," said Lone Butte Casino general manager Jeff Martin.

The Gila River Indian Community operates three casinos under their compact with the state. When the new Lone Butte Casino opens, it will replace the existing casino located a mile away. That one will shut down November 17th.

Construction is also underway for a new hotel and casino just off I-10 near Pecos that will replace the tribe’s second casino the Wild Horse Pass. When the tribe decided to build that casino, it felt the existing Lone Butte Casino was too close and decided to build the new facility at Loop 202 and Kyrene Road.

The third casino is Vee Quiva which is located south of Laveen.
