December 24, 2007

ATMORE, AL - The Poarch Band of Creek Indians are constructing a new casino and hotel behind the Creek Entertainment Center in Atmore, Alabama, about 50 miles northwest of Pensacola. When finished in 2009, the old building will be dismantled.

The Wind Creek Casino Hotel and Resort will be a $250 million, 16-story bingo palace. Steel girders of the new building can already be seen rising three stories high.

"We are currently still in the planning stages of our expansion," Poarch Creek Tribal Chairman Buford Rolin said. "But we look forward to unveiling our final plans in the next few months and hope the community will attend the official ceremony and share our excitement and optimism about our future endeavors."

The city of Atmore has purchased 650 acres across from the proposed casino for commercial development with hope to boost the local economy.
